Frequently Asked Questions

Q1. I just added a record to the database, why doesn't it appear?

A1. You are viewing a cached copy of the page. Most browsers cache copies of the pages that you view by default. That is, browsers keep a copy of the page on your local machine so that the page loads quicker the next time you view it. However, since the page that you are viewing on subsequent "visits" is from your local machine rather than a new copy served from MGI, you will see the same list of database records when the page reloads. To avoid this problem you can change the cache settings on your browser. To view the newest copy of any page, you can force reload the page by holding down the Apple key (Mac) or Control Key (PC) while you click the "Reload" or "Refresh" button on your browser.

Q2. Why is my file not importing properly?

A1. Your version of MGI does not include a previous bug fix. A version of MGI prior to 1.4 contained a bug that corrupted file imports. Download and install the latest version of MGI to alleviate this problem.

A2. Your import file contains stray hidden characters at the beginning of each line. Some programs add hidden characters to the beginning of each line that affects how your file is imported in MGI. Open the import file in a text editor and remove the hidden characters.

A3. The file is not properly formatted. Only tab-delimited files can be imported into MGI. If your file is delimited with any other character, it will not import properly.
